Your Food Oasis: On a Mission To End Hunger
Your Food Oasis is a volunteer-run nonprofit in Hillsboro, Oregon. We work with two goals in mind:
Get nutritious food to hungry people.
Help stop food waste.
How Do We Work Toward These Goals?
Our volunteer team works closely with local stores to glean items they cannot sell. These items may be surplus, have damaged packaging, or be past their sell-by dates. The drivers are out six days a week to pick up these donations, logging hundreds of miles each month.
On Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday of each week, our volunteers distribute the donated food. We pack approximately 50-60 boxes of food each distribution day and bring them out to our customers’ cars.
Registration begins at 11:45am, and distribution begins at 1:00pm and runs until we are out of food boxes. We ask for a donation of $3 per box to help offset some of the expenses of running the pantry.
